Leadership Seminar with Peter Ferrito Tues. & Wed.
Leadership Team Audition Preparation Seminar with Peter Ferrito on be Tuesday and Wednesday (48 PM)
The PHS Band Staff and all potential 2012-2013 Leadership Team members will be participating in these sessions. No sectionals or rehearsals will take place after school on these days due to this special event. All students are paying a $20 participation fee and those who did NOT participate in this event last spring need to pay an additional $10 for the information/workshop binder.
Special Note: All Drum Major and Band President candidates will meet with Mr. Ferrito for one extra hour (8-9 PM).
Full Orchestra rehearsal on Thursday
Full Orchestra on Thursday: This is the LAST rehearsal before their UIL performance (next Tuesday). Rehearsal for this week is 6-8 PM for the entire orchestra (strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion).
Guard Contest at Saginaw HS on Friday
Both of our winterguard groups will be performing at a contest in Saginaw on Friday night. Due to additional props for the show, we'll need approximately 15 floor crew members for this event. The new guard shirts should be available by this contest, so we would like all floor crew members to purchase/wear this shirt for the remaining contests this year ($10 each). Floor crew members can sign up in the band hall this week.
Congratulations, Band, Boosters & friends for helping us earn $5,000 from Albertson's Community Partners Program
Albertson's presented us with a big check at the winter concert and it will be used on the new van. Thank you to Mark Thielke and Community Bank for printing the big Albertsons checks.

PHS hosting Twirler Competition March 10 – Paschal is fortunate to have one of the country's top twirlers -- Haylee Castagna. Thanks to the Castagnas, Paschal will be hosting an area twirling competition on March 10th. In addition to providing a venue for the competition, the Paschal Band will make money from entry fees and from selling concessions. We need a volunteer to help organize concessions during the day. The duties for this "concessions coordinator" would include making sure we have the drinks and snacks necessary for an all-day event for about 100 twirlers. This person would also need to coordinate some breakfast items and lunch choices similar to what we had for the Region Concessions (but there won't be near the amount of students as we had for Region). There will be a mysignup for concession workers so you won't have to worry about getting parents to work.
Big Band Dance -- We are starting the solicitation of auction items this week. We need help dropping off letters at area businesses and then following up with phone calls.
Tuxedos and Dresses -- Over the next three years, we will be purchasing concert season tuxes and dresses as our concert season "uniforms". This year we will be buying tuxes and concert dresses for the wind ensemble. Similar to the process for issuing marching band uniforms in the fall, we will be fitting students for tuxedos and/or dresses. We need a volunteer to help coordinate the process of measuring the students and organizing, issuing and arranging for storage of the uniforms when they arrive. We will have students helping with the process but need an adult to oversee this effort.
Trailer -- Our band equipment trailer has arrived! We will be forming a team to build out the interior with shelves, ramps etc. We need someone to help manage the purchase of materials and work with Lou Bueche to coordinate the construction process.
Car Wash Fund Raiser April 14-- We are planning a big car wash on April 14th. It will be held simultaneously at two locations, Texaco on Bellaire and in the Paschal Band parking lot. Students will sell car wash tickets prior to the event. A portion of sales will go to student accounts to pay for this year's fees or to start raising money for next year's big spring trip and a portion will go to the band to help pay for the graphics on the trailer. We have all of the towels, sponges, hoses etc. However, we need someone to help coordinate the sale of tickets, assigning student times to work, etc.
Middle School Clinics March 1 and 5 – The PHS band will be helping McLean and Daggett bands with their concert music on March 1st and March 5th. The middle school students will come to Paschal and some of our kids will sit in and play with them. Afterwards, we will provide a pizza party. We need a few parents to help with the party after school on those days.

Time and date to be announced.
Every parent of a band students needs to be a member of the boosters. First, it shows support for all the efforts being made to build the Paschal Panther Band into the best band it can be. Secondly, it insures you and your student will receive all the information you need to fuly participate. (Hey, the minimum membership is only $10!) Please consider signing up grandparents and your business. Details here.
Butter Braids are back
Order forms are going out. All orders and money are due back March 5th. Delivery will be on March 21st.
This is an opportunity for kids to raise money for next year's trip (which will be more expensive and, rumor is, will involve a mouse).

Recents cuts to education have made it even harder to keep Paschal's great music programs going. We're an urban school with some families that have to chose between music and food. We need help from alumni, families and fans. If you or your business can help, please contact Jim Sager at 817-832-2841.

Panthers have best show of the season at UIL
Here's a link to the band's UIL performance. We're all very proud of the band's performance. We fell just short of the magic "1" rating but it wasn't for lack of hard work and effort. The directors and assistants--and especially the students--deserve a standing ovation. Take a bow!!
