What every Percussionist should own

I have listed these by my preference from top to bottom, but all are very good products and if taken care of, should last your student through High School.  If you already have a pair of something, but it is not listed, please bring them to me for approval.  There are a lot of products that will inhibit your student from performing at their best or we will not let them use on the school instruments because the implements will cause damage.

One pair of concert drum sticks – choose 1 pair from:
            Cooperman - Graham Johns #1
            Cooperman - Nick Petrella #5 or #10
            Pro-Mark - SD1

One to two pair medium marimba mallets
   (Start with 1st pair listed from a company and then add the next pair)
            i.e. Start with the 200 and add the 240s to compliment
            Pro-Mark - Jim Wunderlich – JW3; JW2
Innovative Percussion– IP200; Innovative Percussion – IP240
Encore – NZ4B; Encore – NZ3B

One pair xylo/bell mallets
         Pro-Mark –PSX20R
            Vic Firth – M134

One to two pair timpani mallets
   (Start with 1st pair listed from a company and then add the next pair)
Innovative Percussion – CT 4 – med. hard; CT2 – med. soft
Pro-Mark – Jonathan Haas Timpani JH3 – hard; JH5 - general

A practice pad
A metronome (doesn’t have to be fancy)
A stick bag to keep your implements, a pencil, etc.
Your three ring notebook with20 plastics and a pencil.

Other important items:
A black hand towel for use on trap tables
Tuning fork or pitch pipe (for timpani tuning)
Drum-set sticks
Marching snare sticks or tenor mallets
