Tammy Smith: wife, mom, friend and hard-working booster

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, the band suddenly lost Tammy Smith who died of a heart attack at age 43. Tammy-- in addition to being wife to Randy and mother to Brandon (11th grade percussion)--was unofficial mom of the band, working long hours making sure the band was dressed and fed...and taking never-ending photos of her beloved band kids. Tammy was honored at the football game that week in a very emotional tribute by the band. The band wore memorial ribbons and played a very touching Amazing Grace on the field. Students and parents also wore "Tammy" caps to the game.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to establish a band scholarship in memory of Tammy. Checks may be dropped by the band hall or mailed to Paschal Band Boosters, 3001 Forest Park Blvd., Fort Worth, TX 76110. Mark your check "Tammy's Fund."

Here is her obituary from the Star-Telegram. It includes a Guestbook where you can leave a message.

In a loving tribute to "Mama Tammy", almost a hundred members of the band spontaneously gathered at the Smith home after band practice to play cadences.
